Description

The teapot is crafted using the traditional rhinoceros-hide lacquer technique. Dozens of layers of pure natural lacquer—deep green, turquoise, and blue-green—are layered upon a black base coat, allowed to flow and settle naturally before being polished to reveal intricate and delicate textures reminiscent of forests, the ocean floor, and mineral veins. The flow of each layer of lacquer is uncontrolled.

The cylindrical body tapers upwards, exuding a dignified and stable presence. The black spout, handle, lid knob, and base contrast sharply with the colorful lacquer body: the black is subdued, the colors vibrant—a beauty of design hidden within simplicity. The spout's angle is carefully designed for a smooth and concentrated pour; the handle fits naturally in the hand, providing a comfortable and secure grip.

Gazing at the teapot, the interwoven blue-green patterns resemble sunlight filtering into the deep sea, moss spreading across ancient rocks, and the aurora borealis streaking across the night sky. This is not mere painting, but a natural beauty composed by lacquerware and time itself. As the tea is brewed, wisps of steam rise from the spout, echoing the smooth texture of the teapot's body—a single pot encapsulates an entire forest and ocean.

Weeks of meticulous craftsmanship, and the irreplaceable charm of natural rhinoceros hide texture. This is not a mass-produced tea set, but a piece of lacquerware art suitable for everyday use or collection. The pure natural lacquer will become warmer and richer with time; the rhinoceros hide texture remains timeless and ever-evolving.

Care Instructions

✦ Care Instructions ✦

Your lacquerware teapot is handcrafted with a ceramic body adorned with natural urushi lacquer — a union of Eastern ceramic tradition and ancient lacquer art. With proper care, this set will serve you beautifully for years.

【Daily Use】
• Rinse with warm water before first use.
• Hand wash only with a soft sponge and mild dish soap. Do not use abrasive scrubbers, steel wool, or harsh chemicals.
• Do not use in dishwasher, microwave, oven, or refrigerator.
• Avoid sudden temperature changes — do not pour boiling water into a cold vessel, or place a hot vessel on a cold surface. Pre-warm with hot water before brewing.
• The lacquer finish is for exterior decoration only. Do not expose the lacquered surface to open flame, direct heat, or prolonged high temperatures.
• Do not soak the set in water for extended periods — wash and dry promptly after use.

【Cleaning & Maintenance】
• Clean the interior with a soft brush or sponge to remove tea residue.
• Wipe the lacquered exterior with a soft, damp cloth, then dry immediately with a soft dry cloth.
• For stubborn tea stains inside the cup, use a small amount of baking soda with warm water and a soft brush — avoid contact with the lacquered surface.
• Never use bleach, solvents, or abrasive cleaners on any part of the set.

【Storage & Handling】
• Store in a dry, well-ventilated place away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
• Handle with care — ceramic is durable but can chip or crack if knocked against hard surfaces.
• Do not stack pieces without protection — place a soft cloth between the teapot and cups to prevent scratches.
• Keep away from children when containing hot liquid.

Each piece is entirely handcrafted. Slight variations in glaze, lacquer pattern, and shape are inherent to the artisanal process and make your set uniquely yours.
